Prayer for people who are living with HIV/AIDS and other illnesses

Leader: Loving and reconciling Jesus, you know what it is to be scorned.

Response: Listen to the cry of women, men, girls and boys everywhere. If we are scorned, give us confidence in your love.

Leader: Loving and reconciling Jesus, you know what it is to be denied and abandoned.

Response: Listen to the cry of women, men, girls and boys everywhere. If we are denied, affirm us. If we are abandoned, be our companion, stay by our side.

Leader: Loving and reconciling Jesus, you know what it is to feel pain and suffer.

Response: Listen to the cry of women, men, girls and boys everywhere. When we are in pain and suffer, salve our wounds with the balm of your spirit, comfort us with your undying compassion.

Leader: Loving and reconciling Jesus, you know what it is to dread death.

Response: Listen to the cry of women, men, girls and boys everywhere.  When we dread death, give us your words of assurance.

Leader: Loving and reconciling Jesus, you know what it is to rise above death and enjoy the presence of the Almighty.

Response: Lift us, Jesus, to that same presence, to stand in your shadow before our Almighty God and sing God’s praises.
