Review of SCLR in Haiti

Download the resource

A learning review (supported by Start Fund) of the survivor and community led emergency response (SCLR) approach after the 2021 Haiti earthquake.

Christian Aid worked with local partner organisations Konbite pou Ranfose Aksyon Lakay (KORAL) and Service Jésuites aux Migrants (SJM) to implement the Haiti Earthquake Response, which would test the SCLR approach at scale for the first time.

About SCLR

The SCLR approach is developed to support and resource individuals and communities, affected by sudden or protracted crises, to lead their own response.

This review shows that:

  • The SCLR approach is a viable, accountable and effective approach that can work at scale
  • People affected by crises can identify and meet their needs in a faster, more inclusive and holistic way than more traditional sector-specific humanitarian ways of working led by external agencies
