Civic Space – Movements for Hope and Change

Over the past two years, across continents, the long-standing frustrations of citizens have erupted into powerful waves of peaceful protest and civil unrest. These movements have been fuelled by passionate calls for justice, transparency, and an end to corruption and abuses of power. As civic space is increasingly restricted and authoritarianism rises, the need for collective action and hope has never been greater.

Christian Aid is excited to share our report exploring the global challenges presented by shrinking civic space and growing authoritarianism. This report is the product of a multi-day workshop, during which we engaged in meaningful dialogue with contributors from Bond, Act Alliance EU, CAFOD, ActionAid Nigeria, Msingi Trust Kenya, the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), and dedicated Christian Aid staff members.
