Kas joined the Research, Evidence and Learning team in London in June 2016 after a career in participatory work in NGOs and universities. Her role has involved undertaking learning and research studies and supporting and training staff on best practice for research and evidence. She is now on sabbatical at Christian Aid until December 2021 and is working as a research associate for the Open University coordinating two international research projects.
Kas is a Spanish sociologist with 15 years of experience in local and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and universities. She holds a PhD in development studies, and a Masters in gender and development, both from the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University in the UK. She has lived and worked in Angola, Belgium, Burundi, France, Nigeria, Portugal, South Africa and the UK.
Kas speaks fluent French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Valencian/Catalan. Her research interests include: NGOs and civil society, NGO-university links, decentralised international research partnerships, accountable governance and local governments, citizen action and participation, gender equality in the informal sector, and participatory research.
