My week volunteering with Christian Aid
Ella reflects on her first week of work experience in the Southampton Christian Aid Office
My first week volunteering at Christian Aid has been great. I’ve carried out many different tasks, including researching different events, creating a placard design to campaign against climate change for The Time Is Now mass lobby in London, and getting in contact with other Christian Aid groups around England.
But I have also learnt a lot about some different issues going on around the world and some individual people's stories. Although there are lots of issues in this world, I have also learnt about the good works Christian Aid is doing and how people’s lives have been changed for the better. I’ve really enjoyed how eye-opening this experience has been and how much I can take away from it.
One of the big topics I have focused on throughout my time here is climate change. I’ve started to understand more about the issue and what we can do to prevent it. This has really inspired me to start paying attention to how I can live my life in a more environmentally-friendly way.
Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming, and I have really got to know what Christian Aid is all about and been able to learn and share ideas with them.
I am incredibly grateful for how amazing my time has been so far and I am really looking forward to all I will be doing in the week to come.
