Wendy wings it for Christian Aid
Daredevil Wendy Adams Evans plans to wing walk to raise money for Christian Aid.
Daredevil Wendy Adams Evans will be taking to the skies in August to take on a wing walk.
This involves being strapped to a rig on top of a light aircraft for a 10-minute flight which includes a loop-the-loop and victory roll!
Wendy, a performance artist, is one of Christian Aid’s excellent local volunteer speakers based in Hayling Island, Hampshire.
Christian Aid is delighted to be one of the four charities Wendy has chosen to fundraise for.
The flight experience will take place in August at Chiltern Air Park with Wingwalk Displays.
Wendy said: 'I am a member of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain so I've ridden the tallest, fastest and steepest roller coasters and I even rode the 300ft Millennium Force coaster in Ohio during a hail storm – but this will be quite a different experience!'
Choosing a cause
Choosing which causes to support wasn't an easy task for Wendy – but she narrowed it down to four.
She said: 'There are so many great causes, it was difficult to narrow it down but I decided to focus on four areas: health, aid, local community and animals.
'I finally settled on four that I know well and have worked closely with; two on Hayling Island and two national charities.
'The Alzheimer's Society has been a valuable source of support to my sister, Jackie, who has suffered long term with a rare form of dementia that affects younger people.
'Christian Aid, whom I have supported as a volunteer speaker for many years – saving lives and livelihoods by funding community projects to help the very poorest people sustain themselves.
'Hayling Christian Centre who have two youth projects starting in the autumn to reach and support young people on the island; and the Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary which probably needs no introduction, such has been the level of interest on the island since the project began.'
