Volunteering: a perspective
Thank you, Jojo!
We are always grateful for the time and skills given by volunteers of all ages. Jojo Ward, a local sixth-form student, joined us for work experience recently and split her time between Campaigns, Community Fundraising and the South East Region.
We asked her for some reflections on her week with us:
I have always known about and supported Christian Aid through my church and events such as Greenbelt festival, and this week I have got to know the charity even better by volunteering in their offices. It has been amazing to become more involved and learn more about how the organisation works on regional, national and international levels.
I have moved around the office, helping the fundraising team input recent survey results, doing some research about the impacts of climate change for the campaigns team and writing articles and creating Facebook posts for the South East regional team. Everyone I have worked with has been super helpful and friendly, answering any questions that I have about what different teams do, how Christian Aid fundraise most effectively, or even where is the best place for lunch!
This week has inspired me to continue supporting and being involved in the work that is done here, and I would encourage anyone who is considering doing work experience or volunteering with Christian Aid to go for it… I have learned so much and really enjoyed my time here over the past few days, all while supporting a brilliant charity.
Are you interested in volunteering for Christian Aid?
Call / email us at the Oxford office, and we will put you in touch with people who can help you, in your area!
