Side by Side Service

On 25 November, Side by Side Scotland held a beautiful Sunday service in the Glasgow University chapel. Side by Side is a global faith movement working towards gender justice.

The service date marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This is a time when people around the world unite to challenge the institutions in which gender-based violence is perpetuated and push for systemic change and accountability.

The service was led by Anne Muir, Katy Cooper directed the Chapel Choir and Kevin Bowyer was the Organist.

I call myself a wounded healer. I experienced violence in my life, which has wounded me, my soul and my heart was broken. I felt shattered, and at times I felt forsaken...But I realise I also have the power within me, despite my brokenness, to rise and work towards building a culture of peace.

- Rev Moumita Biswas.
