Recognition for dedicated supporter

Years of dedication and service recognised at Purton breakfast.

Lifelong Purton Supporter

Purton’s Brian Davies has been presented a Diamond Award certificate by Nigel Quarrell, the former head of Christian Aid South West.

Sporting a huge chocolate 'I’m a volunteer' medal, Brian was recognised for his extensive service and commitment to Christian Aid during the Big Brekkie held at at Purton Methodist Church for Christian Aid Week.

Brian was Treasurer of the Purton Christian Aid team for more than 18 years, during which time he counted and banked at least £120,000 towards bringing relief to the world’s poor. Much of this collection was in small change!

Alongside his late wife Val he made a wonderful double act, tirelessly serving Christian Aid with loving enthusiasm over many years. Brian also worked really hard for other charities, especially Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The certificate, signed by Christian Aid Chairman Dr. Rowan Williams, included mention of Brian’s late wife. The award was a complete shock to Brian, who was overwhelmed by such appreciation.
