Faith is one of the strongest themes throughout the Bible. Scripture shows us again and again that faith grows through perseverance and that God’s promises remain firm.

Woven through that faith is hope: the quiet confidence that God is present and to trust in Him even when we cannot see the full picture.

Here's a selection of Bible verses about faith and hope that can encourage us daily.

Hope is growing in Nairobi

When Fridah wakes, her first thoughts are for her children. Will there be enough food today? - A precarious and frightening daily struggle that no parent should have to face.

And yet Fridah holds onto faith. She speaks of the promise in scripture that reminds her God sees her future. That she and her children are not forgotten.

Though support of people like you, Fridah received tools and training. Now she grows vegetables to feed her family and sell at market.

Friday's hope is a prayer whispered each morning. And that hope is strengthened through people like you.

Pray and stand in hope

Pray that parents living with the relentless stress of food insecurity can access training and tools that will support them to provide for their children.

A prayer for hope around the world

God of all creation,

you breathe hope into every corner of the earth.

Forgive us when we lose sight of your promises,

and let our vision for the future be filled

with glimpses of your kingdom,

where peace and justice reign,

even in places of suffering and conflict.

God of compassion,

you call us to be bearers of hope.

We lift those suffering around the world to you,

those who long for safety, healing, and peace.

Strengthen us to stand alongside them,

and inspire us to work for a world where hope prevails,

and all may flourish.

Spirit of life,

fill every heart with hope.

Renew our strength to believe in your promises,

and give us the courage, wisdom, and will

to work towards a world transformed by your love.

Amen

Let hope inspire action

Hope is not just about waiting; it’s also about acting. As Christians, we must share the hope we’ve received with others, especially those who are struggling. Whether through prayer, service, or advocacy, we can be a light of hope in the world, reflecting the love and compassion of God.

At Christian Aid, we believe that hope is powerful. It's the driving force behind our work. and brings lasting change to those in need. Let’s continue to hope, pray, and act for a better world, trusting in the promises of God.

Faith in action through giving

As we lift our prayers for peace, we can also be part of God’s answer. Support someone like Fridah to grow food, protect their children from hunger, and nurture hope.

Psalm 9:18 - 'For the needy shall not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor perish forever.'
