In response to Christian Aid's Harvest Appeal, St Columba's URC in Oxford organised a lunch-time 'crumble party' on Sunday October 20th.
On offer for the first course were delicious savoury crumbles such as Moroccan Mix, Winter Veg, Chicken, accompanied by a selection of cheeses and salads.
For the pudding course, folk were invited to enter their best creations in a competition, and the twenty members present voted for the top 3 winners. (in Photo) Sweets were cheesecake, peach, rhubarb, apple and raspberry and fig-and-apple crumbles with ordinary or vegan custard.
The extremely good result in financial terms was £186.20, and everyone enjoyed the fun and fellowship!
The Harvest Appeal 2019 focussed on helping families to break free from poverty,
Millions of women like Kasthuri, a Dalit in India are born into poverty. They’ve faced prejudice all their lives: no rights, no security, no voice.
The EcoVeg project is breaking barriers. It supports Kasthuri and her women’s farming collective with agricultural and business skills, and gets them a fair price for their crop.
In India, and around the world, our projects are helping communities to break through the social and economic exclusion that’s holding them back.
Thanks to you all who have supported this year's Harvest Appeal.
