The 100 mile walk

In January, Donna Crowther and a team of walkers walked 100 miles to raise money for Syrian refugees through Christian Aid’s Iraq and Lebanon Community Partnership.

At a Big Brekkie at Christ Church, Tetbury, Donna, together with members of the 100-mile walking team and supporters from the churches, raised the final amount needed to reach the target of £14,286 - match-funded 6:1. This means that a fantastic £100,000 will go to the project!

Donna walked the 100 miles as a personal and spiritual journey to celebrate her 50th birthday. Enroute, she visited churches throughout Gloucestershire.

Donna thanked the team and praised the generosity of everyone who donated and the hospitality of all the churches they visited. What an amazing achievement!

Thank you to absolutely everyone involved in making this possible. We have now reached our target!

Michèle wrote this on her Facebook page: 'Well... we smashed it! Thank you to everyone that sponsored us'.

Thank you so much to everyone involved in this amazing event.

The Iraq and Lebanon Community Partnership

The money that the 100 mile walk has raised will go toward our Iraq and Lebanon Community Partnership. We’re working with partners in Lebanon and Iraq to support young refugees, people who have been uprooted from their homes, and their host communities.

Our partners provide education, psychological support, economic empowerment activities, and advocacy.

This project will give marginalised individuals better access to the services they need to survive and flourish. We focus particularly on helping young people, and people with disabilities.

Again, a massive thank you to everyone who walked, encouraged, prayed, and donated, and a special thank you to Donna!
