When we give, we reflect God’s love and take part in His work of restoring hope.

The Bible reminds us that generosity isn’t only about money or possessions – it’s about sharing compassion, time and kindness with others.

Matthew 5:42  - Give to the one who asks of you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.

What the Bible says about the power of giving:

  1. Matthew 10:42 – ‘And whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.’
  2. Deuteronomy 15:10 – ‘Give liberally and be ungrudging when you do so, for on this account the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.’
  3. Luke 6:38 – ‘Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.’
  4. 2 Corinthians 9:7 – ‘Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’
  5. Matthew 10:8b – ‘You received without payment; give without payment.’
Turn generosity into action. Help families living in poverty.

Generosity is at the heart of our faith. You can help communities facing hunger and hardship grow food, build resilience and create lasting change.

  1. Psalm 37:21 – ‘The wicked borrow and do not pay back, but the righteous are generous and keep giving.’
  2. Proverbs 11:25 – ‘A generous person will be enriched, and one who gives water will get water.’
  3. Matthew 5:42 – ‘Give to the one who asks of you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.’
  4. Proverbs 19:17 – ‘Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and will be repaid in full.’
  5. Proverbs 28:27a – ‘Those who give to the poor will lack nothing...’

All of these verses are taken from the NRSV version of the Bible.

Where hardship means hunger…

In Nairobi’s informal settlements, rising food prices leave families like Fridah’s facing impossible choices.

With tools and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, she’s growing vegetables in a small city plot – feeding her family and earning an income.

Scripture reminds us that generosity is an act of faith. This Christian Aid Week, will you give so families like Fridah’s can grow food and nurture hope?

A prayer for generous hearts

Loving God,

You gave freely and without limit.

Teach us to give with open hearts,

to share what we have with those in need,

and to find joy in generosity.

May our gifts bring comfort, hope and love

to our neighbours near and far.

Amen

Let generosity inspire faith in action

Giving is rooted in God’s love and justice. As we reflect on scripture, we’re reminded that generosity — no matter how small — can be a powerful act of faith.

When we give, we respond to God’s call to care for our neighbours and stand alongside those facing poverty. Join thousands of others to live out that calling in practical, hope-filled ways.

Bring faith to life through your giving

Every act of generosity – whether prayer, time or fundraising – can help communities facing hardship build a more secure future.
