Christian Aid was founded in 1945 by the British and Irish churches to help refugees at the end of the Second World War and churches in Wales have been part of the movement from the early days.
Today, we are the official relief, development and advocacy agency of 41 sponsoring churches in Britain and Ireland, uniting in hope and solidarity with communities globally to tackle extreme poverty and injustice.

Our third sector partners and networks in Wales
We cannot reach our vision of an end to poverty alone. We work in partnership with others in Wales to amplify our voices and to mobilise greater action on climate justice, debt justice, peace and global solidarity. These networks include:
- The Wales Overseas Agencies Group(WOAG): a group of international development organisations in Wales who speak with a unified voice to influence and drive action on international justice and solidarity.
DEC Cymru: When a Disasters Emergency Committee appeal is launched, we work with DEC member charities in Wales to mobilise a response from the Welsh public.
