Why do I need to write to my MP? Isn’t there a ceasefire now?

Dear [YOUR MP'S NAME]
My name is [YOUR NAME]
I’m writing to you as my MP to share my concerns about the ongoing situation in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory.
Whilst the ceasefire has brought some relief, thousands are still left hungry and homeless. All aid restrictions must be urgently lifted.
Over 400 Palestinians have also been killed since the ceasefire and illegal settlements continue to force Palestinians from their land.
I, like many others in my community, am praying and crying out for peace. But for it to be a lasting peace it must be rooted in justice. That’s where I believe the UK Government can and should do more.
As my representative in Parliament, will you please write to the UK Foreign Secretary asking that the UK
- Ban all UK trade with and investment in illegal Israeli settlements
- Suspend the existing UK-Israel Trade Agreement, ending the UK’s preferential trade terms with Israel
- Suspend all arms sales to Israel, until all violations of international law cease
- Ramp up its support for UN-led humanitarian relief, and demand Israel lifts all remaining aid restrictions on Gaza
With thanks,
[YOUR NAME]
