November 2019 update
We want to say a massive thank you to Doris Robinson who organised a Sing For Your Supper in Timperley in November. Doris has organised this annual fundraiser for Christian Aid for the last 37 years, and 2019 was her last one. This year alone, she raised over £1,000 – thank you for your support over the last 37 years!

Well done to the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church for organising a quiz night on Friday 29 November 2019. The final total is still being counted, but everyone had a great time and raised lots to support the work of Christian Aid. Thank you to all involved!
Congratulations to the Cheadle Hulme Christian Aid Group who organised a sponsored swim at the local school’s pool on Saturday 18th November 2019.
Thank you so much to Nick Thorley who ran an astonishing 100 miles in 2 days to raise money for Christian Aid’s Harvest Appeal. As a blind runner, Nick was guided by 10 different church leaders from the Nottingham area. Nick has raised an incredible £2,235! Thank you so much Nick for pushing yourself to run an Ultra Marathon – you really are a #CAChampion!
A massive thank you to St Fillan’s Church in Fife who organised their annual Golf Tournament earlier in the year versus Dalgety Parish Church. A bit of healthy competition between the two churches made for a great event and together they raised a brilliant £275. Thanks to all involved!
October 2019 update
A massive thank you to Nottingham’s Ukelele Orchestra for holding a concert for Christian Aid on Saturday 5th October. Everyone had a great time listening and singing-a-long!
All 12 #CAChampions finished the Great North Run on Sunday 8th September and have already smashed their team target of £8,000. Well done to the whole team.

Congratulations to Cath Greenlees from Longton, Preston, who walked an impressive 75 miles over a week this August. Cath has raised an impressive £3,000 to help support Syrian refugees.
Thank you to the nineteen brave abseilers who scaled the 34-metre high tower of St Mary’s Church, Redenhall, Norfolk this July. Together they have raised almost £1,500. Well done to you all!
On Saturday 29th June, Julian Bryant challenged himself to cycle the Coast to Coast challenge in just one-day. Not only did he complete the 150 mile bike ride, he also raised an amazing £2,362.50. Well done Julian!
Congratulations to Peter Chantry from Crewe, for running the Chester Half Marathon on Sunday 19th May. Peter completed the 13.1 mile run in an impressive 1hr 52 minutes and raised an even more impressive £1,739. Well done Peter – you’re a #CAChampion.
Well done to Clare Hyde from Preston, who successfully completed an 11-mile walk from Clitheroe to Blackburn birthing centre in solidarity with mums around the world who must walk similar distances to give birth safely. Along with other Christian Aid Week activities, Clare has raised almost £1,000. Thank you for your support Clare!
On Sunday 19th May, St Michael’s Church in Colehill, Dorset raised a staggering £999 from a parish-lunch held in the church hall. The parishioners had a great time, and even the chefs loved all the hard work – so much so, they are already planning next year’s lunch. Thank you for your support!
Richard Cole from Tring took part in a 14 mile cross-country race to raise money for Christian Aid. Richard was definitely a #CAChampion raising £2,059. Well done and thank you for challenging yourself!

Thank you to Helen Miller from Weymouth, Dorset who raised over £700 for Christian Aid by shaving her head this Lent. Despite battling illness herself, Helen chose to raise money to support the work of Christian Aid. We really appreciate your support Helen – well done!
Well done to the Scarborough Christian Aid Group for raising £203 from their annual sponsored snooker marathon. Thanks to everyone involved for your support.
In January this year, Donna Crowther from Tetbury decided to celebrate her 50th birthday in a different way; she chose to walk 100 miles to raise money for Christian Aid. Along with members of her church, Donna completed the walk to raise money for their Iraq and Lebanon Community Partnership. Together they raised £14,415, which was match funded 6:1, meaning they actually raised over £100,000. Well done, and happy birthday Donna!
December 2018 update
Nick's amazing rides
Nick Simon, from Hertfordshire, has raised a staggering £80,000 in sponsored bike rides. In 2016, Nick cycled 8,000 miles through 11 countries from Cairo in Egypt to Cape Town in South Africa. But he didn't stop there.
From June to October 2017, he did another cycle using the same bicycle to travel 2,000 miles from Cork in Ireland, to Camden Town in London.
Nick's continued fundraising right through to June 2018 and to hit his fundraising target. Well done Nick – we hope you’re getting some well-deserved rest!
Thanks for your support, Helensburgh
In Argyll and Bute, the Helensburgh Christian Aid group raised an incredible £13,241 for our work.
As well as their annual Christian Aid Week house-to-house collection, they also managed to get local schools to take part in a netball competition and sponsored swim. The local M&Co shop also helped them stage a fashion show.

Rustington churches love their soup
Each month the Churches of Rustington, West Sussex hold a soup lunch. They come together for a lovely afternoon to raise money for Christian Aid. This year they've raised £500. Thanks to everyone who came along.
Blond Airways blew us away
On Saturday 6 October, almost 100 people were at at All Hallows Church in Gedling, Nottinghamshire to enjoy a wonderful concert delivered by local choir, Blond Airways.
There was something for everyone as the choir performed a varied repertoire, from popular songs to songs from shows and classical pieces.
They raised over £500 – thank you to everyone involved!
Liverpool circled the City
On Saturday 29 September, 40 walkers took to the streets of Liverpool to circle the city. They took in the sights of 12 of the city’s beautiful churches as they each walked 10km.

Christian Aid’s Great North Run team 2018
A massive congratulations to all of Christian Aid’s 26 runners, who successfully completed the 2018 Great North Run on 9 September 2018.
The team have smashed the £8,000 target and have raised an awesome £14,689; well done! You're all Christian Aid Champions!
Among the runners was Rev Roger Mills, who ran his 20th Great North Run for Christian Aid, raising £3,433. Congratulations Roger on your fantastic achievement.

Lancashire school children get sporty
In September, the pupils of St Thomas CEP School in Bolton kicked off the new school year in a sporty way, by organising a sports week.
The children took part in a range of activities to raise money for Christian Aid. Together they raised a brilliant £559.

Wirksworth's successful summer party
On a lovely August evening, Derbyshire's Wirksworth Christian Aid group hosted their 10th annual summer party, raising a record £1,250. The Wirksworth residents enjoyed live music, a fine spread of food and drink, a fresh produce stall, a raffle and an information board about the Harvest Appeal.

Thousands raised in Salisbury's Strawberry Tea success
The gates to Salisbury’s Bishop’s Palace were thrown open this July as 150 people attended Salisbury's Strawberry Tea, which raised over £2,350 for Christian Aid.
The afternoon tea had stalls, strawberries, sunshine and speeches.
Thank you to the Bishop of Salisbury, the Right Rev Nicholas Holtam, and his wife Helen, for hosting the event.
Around the arts in 80 days
Before her 80th birthday on 25th July 2018, Marian Paulson of Herefordshire decided to take on a challenge to enjoy 80 arts and cultural events.
Marion dedicated her spare time to numerous events at cinemas, theatres, school halls, auditoriums, cathedrals, museums and art galleries.
As a surprise, her grandchildren set up a Justgiving page to raise sponsorship for Marian to complete her challenge. For a final birthday present, Marian found out that she’d raised almost £500 for the charity that she holds so dear in her heart.

John's North Staffordshire Walk tipped to reach £1m
For the last 28 years John Bamford has organised the Christian Aid Norths Staffordshire Walk. Each year the sponsored walks raise £40,000-50,000 per year – amazing organisation, John!
As the sum he has raised stands at a staggering £968,350, John is confident that he will tip the million-pound mark on 23 March 2019 with the 29th North Staffordshire Walk.
