Salamata was raised in Burkina Faso but, when she married, she moved to the Côte d'Ivoire in search of a better, more prosperous life. Sadly, she didn’t find it – even on Côte d'Ivoire Salamata and her husband struggled to earn a living and provide for their daughter.
Salamata soon gave birth to triplets, and with three extra mouths to feed, their situation became even more difficult.
With so little to eat, the family reached an all-time low. They had to beg for food. The children's health deteriorated and they became malnourished. Salamata moved back to Burkina Faso with the children in search of help.
Thankfully, Salamata's father was given a cash transfer by Christian Aid, which he used to fight his grandchildren's malnutrition. He bought nutritional porridge flour to feed the children and Salamata received training on how to make more nutritious meals. There’s been a real improvement in the health of the triplets since.
‘The project is really what helped save my children. I am now happier and don’t worry about their health.’Salamata
This Christmas, will you give a gift and help make sure there’s enough for everyone?
