Raising funds for Christian Aid's work in Iraq and Lebanon
Wirksworth Christian Aid group in Derbyshire are once again hosting their annual summer party in the wonderful gardens of China House Yard.
Last year the party raised a record £1,250 and this year the money raised will be going towards supporting those in Lebanon and Iraq affected by displacement.
This community partnership, which the Wirksworth group have committed to raise £5,000 towards, is match funded 6:1 by Bread for the World, making the £5,000 worth almost £35,000.
The residents of Wirksworth have another opportunity to enjoy live music, a fine spread of food and drink, a fresh produce stall, a raffle and an information board about the community partnership in Lebanon and Iraq.
Tom Wyke, our Regional Coordinator for Derbyshire, attended last year’s party with his family and said: 'It was such an enjoyable event. I would like to thank all the committee for their hard work and support in organising such an occasion.'
