Scotland Welcomes Refugees Gathering 2019 is a completely FREE event aimed at connecting welcome groups, grassroots movements, like minded individuals and refugees with one another. The Gathering will be a vibrant, fun, family-friendly showcase of international art, music, storytelling, and much more - celebrating the variety of backgrounds that refugees bring to our communities.The Gathering will be in English, but there will be translators available for Arabic, Swahili and Farsi. Participation is FREE Refreshments and lunch will be provided Assistance with transport costs will be available Activities will be open to ALL AGES Creche/childcare facilities will be provided   Take One Action Film Festival will be screening an inspiring documentary Soufra, preceded by a shared community meal.  Soufra follows the inspirational story of intrepid social entrepreneur, Mariam Shaar – a generational refugee who sets out to change her fate and that of many fellow refugee women in the camp by launching a catering company. As well as shining a new light on people inside the largest refugee crisis in human history, Soufra reveals the hope, grit, passion and common bonds created by bringing people together, and the power of food as a bridge to overcome barriers.
