Kas has worked as a research, evidence and learning adviser for Christian Aid in London since 2016. Her role involves undertaking learning and research studies and supporting and training staff on best practice for research and evidence.
Kas is a Spanish sociologist with more than 15 years of experience in local and national non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and universities, both as a member of staff and as a consultant/trainer. She has worked with ActionAid, Concern, DVV, IBIS, IDS and Oxfam Intermon. She has lived in Angola, Belgium, Burundi, France, Nigeria, Portugal, South Africa and the UK.
She holds a PhD in development studies on NGO tax justice campaigning in Nigeria and the UK (2012-16), and a Masters in gender and development, on gender and participatory educational curriculums in Angola (2005-06). These qualifications are both from the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University in the UK.
Kas speaks fluent French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Valencian/Catalan. Her interests include: NGOs as research niches; decentralised international research partnerships; mixed methods; participatory research, methods and workshops; NGO campaigning and social movements; Europe's role in international development.
