Karen has worked for Christian Aid in London since July 2018. Her job is to help effectively communicate Christian Aid’s research and policy work to internal and external audiences in the international development sector.
Before coming to Christian Aid, Karen worked for the Institute of Development Studies, where she developed her research communications expertise with Making All Voices Count, a large programme which examined the role of ICTs in the relationship between citizen voice and responsive, accountable governance.
Karen has worked as a researcher for many years, and is widely published. Her interests include participatory research; sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods, especially in semi-arid sub-Saharan Africa; transparency, participation and accountability in governance; adaptive learning; and policy processes.
