AFGHANISTAN HUNGER APPEAL
We urgently need your support to help over 14 million people in Afghanistan who are food insecure.
Afghanistan is experiencing a complex humanitarian emergency, as the country faces political upheaval, a worsening economic crisis, a devastating drought and the COVID pandemic.
Already this year, over 550,000 people have become displaced, in addition to the 2.9 million Afghans already internally displaced at the end of 2020, as a result of decades of conflict. The majority of these are displaced women and children.
Families in Afghanistan desperately need food and clean water to survive. If we act now, we can prevent unnecessary deaths.
We're currently unable to move funds into Afghanistan due to the complex political situation.
Your generous gifts towards the Afghanistan Hunger Appeal so far will be held and moved into Afghanistan at the very earliest opportunity - and not be allocated anywhere else.
Christian Aid are playing an active role, working with governments and others in the international development community to bring about solutions that allow our partners in Afghanistan to deliver their essential work.
'I am displaced due to the armed conflict between Taliban and government forces, and I am right now living in Chahar Dara as an internally displaced person.
I am a father of 6 children - I am presently living in a roofless private property.'
Zulmai Niazi and his young family have been struggling for food and shelter. They have been without food for up to 3 days at a time and have limited access to hygiene facilities. Many more families in Afghanistan are facing these difficulties.
Please give what you can to our Afghanistan Hunger appeal to provide urgent support to people in Afghanistan facing starvation.
Christian Aid has been working in Afghanistan for over 30 years and we will not desert now. We’re doing all we can to continue distributions of food and emergency supplies to the most affected communities.

When Famine stalks the land, nothing grows.
Plants cannot, people cannot, ideas and dreams cannot –
everything withers and dies.
It is a violent aberration of your will for the world
and it is multiplied now
by conflict, climate change and COVID.
God of the flourishing field, there is enough to feed us all.
Call us to that sacred sharing –
neighbour to global neighbour -
Your gifts of food, water,
a chance to live the life so delicately crafted
by your divine spirit.
We will not turn away but turn towards each other
with generosity and a justice-driven compassion
that searches for solutions.
Famine stalks the land, so may our outrage grow,
may our determination steel itself,
may our solidarity spur us into action.
God of the flourishing field,
help us feed each other.
