World Toilet Day

According to the UN, more than 5 million children die every year of sanitation-related diseases such as diarrhoea because of a lack of basic sanitation facilities.

Between August and October this year, ten volunteers with Platform2, an overseas youth programme run by Christian Aid, helped build a new toilet block for a Peruvian nursery school, transforming the health prospects for pupils, present and future.

To mark World Toilet Day (19 Nov) we compiled this photo gallery.
