On 9 September 2011, Tajikistan celebrates 20 years of independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. But the last two decades have seen civil war and spiralling levels of poverty and de-development.
Christian Aid works in Tajikistan and neighbouring Kyrgyzstan to support the most vulnerable women, men and children to build profitable livelihoods, tackle energy shortages, reduce vulnerability to disaster, prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and promote better governance.
