As Kenyan organisation Maji na Ufanisi begins work funded by Christian Aid to bring clean water and drains to Matopeni, we wanted to find out more about life in the slum.
We asked one of the 300 families living in Matopeni, the Millas, to take a set of photographs showing what life is like for them:
Jeremiah, now 14, lives in Matopeni with his aunt Veronica’s family. Jeremiah says, "In this picture is my cousin Winifred. She helps with washing utensils and also fetching water. I also fetch water. We get on well although sometimes we do quarrel."
