Photos: Myanmar and malaria
This week, our photo gallery comes from Myanmar. With the increase in cases of drug-resistant malaria along the Thailand-Myanmar border, the disease has become a major global public health concern.
Malaria is one of the world's biggest killers and yet it is a preventable disease. It is a life-threatening illness caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through the bites of infected mosquitoes. With limited healthcare or means of prevention, households are often powerless against its might.
