Video: Nelson Mandela International Day

Celebrations take place around the world today to mark Nelson Mandela International Day, the first since Madiba’s death in December 2013. In 2005, on a bitterly cold February morning, Nelson Mandela addressed thousands of supporters of the Make Poverty History campaign in Trafalgar Square, London.

Christian Aid Chief Executive Loretta Minghella described the late leader as a 'man whose strength of vision founded a nation.'

'He was that rare creature, a person of immense power who used his energies and influence for the good of all.'
