To mark World Malaria Day 2011 (25 April), Christian Aid produced this photo gallery to highlight the disease which is one of the world's biggest killers.
Malaria accounts for an estimated one million deaths across the world every year.
Christian Aid is working with others to help reduce the impact of, and where possible eliminate malaria in countries such as Zambia, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya.
Collaborations between public and private sector partners, including the JC Flowers Foundation in Zambia, Nets for Life in Ghana and Nigeria, and Virgin Unite in Kenya, are ensuring plans are wide scale and well coordinated.
Christian Aid's church partners, including ZAC, ADDRO, ADDS and ADS, which are experienced in tackling poverty-related illnesses such as HIV, malaria and tuberculosis through strong community networks, are seen as crucial to the success of these programmes.
