Past the finishing line

17 April 2008

Eirian Samuel, Christian Aid’s education coordinator in Wales, hopes to raise £2,000 after completing the Flora London Marathon in just over five hours.

Eirian (pictured above at the end of her 26-mile challenge) joined around 30 other Christian Aid staff and supporters who ran in last Sunday's marathon to raise funds for the work of the organisation.

Reaching the finishing line in Pall Mall was the culmination of a long-held ambition for Eirian. A keen runner, who had already run three half marathons – two in Cardiff and one in Surrey - she had always promised herself she would one day run the London marathon.

Eirian, originally from Prestatyn in north Wales but now living in Tongwynlais near Cardiff, joined the Christian Aid Wales team in 2003 and works from the Cardiff office.
