April 07 2008

The government's Climate Change Bill proposes a 60% cut in UK carbon emissions. Poor countries need more. Help them get it.

Email your MP now calling for an 80% cut to be included in the Climate Change Bill.

Your campaigning works

On 31 March, the government adopted an amendment to the Climate Change Bill which means that UK companies face mandatory reporting of their annual carbon emissions. This is a great success for our campaign! A huge thank you for the thousands of postcards and emails you sent to your MPs and Gordon Brown.

But our campaigning doesn't stop here.

The Bill has now reached the House of Commons. It currently aims for a 60% cut in UK carbon emissions by 2050. This is not enough. We need drastic action if we're to avoid catastrophe for poor countries. We need at least an 80% reduction.

Please contact your MP now to ensure they back a tougher Bill. We'll also send a copy of your email to Gordon Brown.
