John Davison joined Christian Aid from The Independent where he worked on the news, comment and foreign desks. He has worked for The Sunday Times and as a freelance magazine writer. He has reported from Bosnia, Jamaica, central Africa and Afghanistan. Within Christian Aid he is a specialist on Middle East affairs and Afghanistan, Iran and Sudan.

Judith Melby, international editor

Judith Melby is a former radio and television documentary producer and CBC bureau chief for east and west Europe and Africa. She covered the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Velvet Revolution and Milltown Cemetery for CBC. For Christian Aid she has reported from Sierra Leone, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

John McKie, artist liaison officer

John McKie started as a national newspaper reporter for The Mail on Sunday, before moving on to The Independent and The Evening Standard. In November 1998, he became editor of Smash Hits and then became editor of Q magazine in January 2001. Recently, he has written for THE FACE, Word magazine, The Sunday Times and the Guardian.

Fiona Cowood, youth journalist

Fiona Cowood joined Christian Aid from Bliss magazine, where she was Features editor. Prior to that, she was Senior writer for B Magazine, a women’s glossy, and feature writer for various women’s weekly titles. She still freelances for a number of magazines, including Company, More, Bliss, Best and Bella. Fiona writes about Christian Aid’s development work for print and online media aimed at children and young people.

Karen Hedges, deputy public relations manager

Karen Hedges has worked in public relations for nine years. She spent the majority of 2003 living in Madagascar working for a small HIV charity, before joining Christian Aid in March 2004. She organises media relations activities, high profile events and competitions and devises imaginative media stunts.

Kati Dshedshorov has experience of organising special events and internet fundraising initiatives within the charity sector. She has developed sustainable tourism projects for the Bulgarian government, and has worked for a major conference and exhibition venue in London. Adrian Horsman was a TV/radio journalist in Dublin and Belfast for 25 years before joining Christian Aid Ireland in 2005. He has a special interest in Africa and in 1992/93 he reported regularly for BBC Five Live and South Africa’s 702 Talk Radio while cycling from Algiers to Cape Town.
