Christian Aid and the Good Little Company have been working together since 2009. Building on the Good Little Company's support for food security projects in Malawi, they are now providing much needed support to a sustainable farming project in Kenya.
In Kenya, we are working with farmers to grow sorghum in an area where communities are suffering the effects of climate change and a lack of rain has damaged harvests and livestock. Sorghum, which can be made into a nutritious porridge, is a very resilient crop and can flourish in all weather conditions. With the Good Little Company’s help we have been able to:
- Bring 2,000 farmers together to sell their sorghum to three approved companies. This allows farmers to improve the lives of their own families by getting a fairer, more profitable return.
- Support smallholder farmers to understand more about business, get access to finance and grow more sorghum.
- Set up a simple but effective text messaging service so farmers can be sent valuable information about things like weather and prices to help them better manage their crops and their sales.
For every pack of Good Little Company sausages you buy, the total profits go to support this vital sorghum project.
Please support the Good Little Company. Its range is available in Waitrose, Asda and Ocado, and in selected Tesco stores in Northern Ireland.
