Volunteer in your area

Volunteer speakersBy volunteering your time you can gain experience, use your skills and help improve the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.

Current opportunities

Our current volunteering opportunities in the region are listed below.

Put your passion into action

Campaigns volunteer

Use your passion for climate change to play a key role in eradicating poverty.

We currently want to recruit a campaigns volunteer to:

  • enthuse other campaigners to take action for climate change
  • promote the Big Shift away from fossil fuels
  • work closely with the regional staff, national campaigns staff, volunteers and with other agencies in the North East.

You will be supported by regional and national Christian Aid staff to help support climate campaigners. Full training will be given.

For more information, contact newcastle@christian-aid.org

Media volunteer

Use your communication skills to redraft press releases, collect stories from supporters, and build relationships with local media.

This volunteer role will ideally suit someone who:

  • has a passion for justice
  • currently works as a journalist or would like to gain valuable experience in the sector
  • enjoys finding local angles on international development stories.

As with all our roles, you will receive full training and support from a named member of staff, as well as the opportunity to see how an international organisation relates to local media outlets.

Join our speaker team

Christian Aid speakers share stories about the work of our partner organisations with churches and other groups, and inspire people to give, take action and pray for our work.

We would like to expand our team in the North East and are looking for four volunteers who can be available for up to 10 Sundays a year.

You will need to have experience of public speaking, confidence within a church setting and be committed to the work of Christian Aid.

You will receive resources, training and the support of staff and other volunteers. Out-of-pocket expenses are paid.

Volunteer teachers

Volunteer teachers visit schools to share stories about the work of Christian Aid’s partner organisations with some of the world’s poorest people.

We would like to expand our team in the North East and are looking for up to four volunteers who will be available to contact their local schools and arrange visits.

You will need to have experience of communicating to school-age children and be committed to the work of Christian Aid.

You will receive resources, training and the support of staff and other volunteers. Out-of-pocket expenses are paid.
