From temporary database volunteer to campaigns organiser

James GreyJames Grey (pictured) joined Christian Aid as a volunteer, helping our Regional Administrators with Christian Aid Week income processing. He’s currently doing his A-levels and is interested in a career in finance or accounting.

But what was initially a short-term commitment soon turned into a longer-term role.

As James became more confident in the admin side of a regional office, he successfully applied for a temporary role covering part of the admin for the Eastside team, fitting his time in the office around his studies.

During his time with us James has become more interested in the campaigning side of our work, seeking to make a real difference in the world and, in his words, 'addressing the festering sore of poverty'. And so, since January 2016, James has been the lead for the Sourced campaign in the North East.

'It is great to be doing something so relevant!' says James. And we are sure this experience will stand James in good stead when he begins his politics degree in the autumn.

Having such a capable volunteer has really helped to expand the capacity of the Eastside team in more ways than we could have imagined, and we love to see his smiling face in the office!
