Two of the East Midlands team travel to Burundi

Nick Thorley

12 August 2013

This September, two of the Christian Aid East Midlands team will travel to eastern Africa to see how our partners are tackling the root causes of poverty.

Regional coordinators Nick Thorley (right) and Judi Perry leave for Burundi on 19 September for an 11-day visit. They will bring back stories, photos and audio of the work of our partners, to show how your support is changing lives.

Burundi is located in the Great Lakes region of eastern Africa and is one of the five poorest countries in the world.

In numbers:
50 years is life expectancy
29% of under-fives underweight
67% of population below national poverty line
142 children in every 1,000 die before their fifth birthday
90% of Burundians making their living from agriculture
185 on World Development Index out of 187

Visit the 'What we do' section of our website to find out more about Christian Aid's work in Burundi.

Invite us to speak

On their return, Judi and Nick will be available to speak about their experiences and share their stories. They will be creating a dynamic and interactive mult-media presentation on their time in Burundi and would love to share it with you.
