Sleaford sponsored knit-in

Christian Aid Week roadshows

9 July 2013

Helen Bristow, from Sleaford, writes about the successful sponsored knit-in that takes place every year, to raise money for Christian Aid Week.

'One fundraising event that we held during Christian Aid Week 2013 was a sponsored knit-in, at St Denys Parish Church in Sleaford.

'We've held this sponsored knit-in for several years now, and it always proves to be very worthwhile, both financially and as a time of fellowship.

'Tea and cakes are served during the two-hour session and the resulting squares are patiently made into blankets.

'These blankets are then delivered to people in need, usually those in poor communities overseas.

'This year, 16 volunteers took part and we raised £448.10, exceeding last year’s total of £350!'
