Couple 'Cycle Gaza' to support our appeal

Jessica Gaza Sponsored Cycle 2014

Thursday 21 August 2014

Congratulations to Jessica Warrey and Michael Bullett, who have just completed a 65-mile sponsored cycle for our Gaza appeal!

They cycled the length of Gaza's borders in just one day and have so far raised more than £900.

What inspired them?

Jessica said: 'I had shared a few petitions and emergency appeal asks on Facebook, but I felt useless in the face of so many lives lost.

'My boyfriend and I sat over a pint and pondered over our use (or uselessness) in this situation.'

'We didn’t know exactly what to do, but we knew we had to do something. So we decided to do something a bit mad. We decided to Cycle Gaza.'

What did they do?

They didn't actually cycle around Gaza, but covered the equivalent of the length of its borders (104km/65miles) around the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside.

The challenge took them just over eight hours, a lot of sweat and quite a few tears, but through sponsorship they are now near the £1,000 mark.

How the money will be used

Money raised from Jessica and Michael’s ‘Cycle Gaza’, will go to support our partner organisations on the ground in Gaza; providing desperately needed medical aid, clean water, food and emergency support to those most affected.

Jessica finished: 'It’s great to actually do something, something that tangibly supports people who are in desperate need, and you can, too.

'Maybe you can’t afford to give, but you can do something a little mad!'
