London Marathon runner raises £5,000

Paul Anderson handing over his cheque for £5000 to the Loughborough Christian Aid office22 April 2012

A big congratulations to Paul Anderson who completed the London 2012 Marathon on 22 April in a fantastic time of 5 1/2 hours, raising over £5,000 for Christian Aid!

We would like to say a huge well done to Paul for doing such an amazing fundraising effort and for completing this iconic marathon.

Thank you message from Paul:

Paul would like to thank everyone who sponsored and supported him over the last six months of training, expecially his wife Pauline.

Reflection on marathon experience

'The London Marathon was a truly red letter day. From the moment I left Greenwich to the finish line on the Mall (26.2 miles) there were crowds lining the whole route cheering runners on.

'After six months in training with the help of Sigourney Blunt (personal trainer), I was fully prepared for the race. I have raised over £5,000 for Christian Aid from the London Marathon.

' I would like to thank those who have sponsored me, donated online and helped organise events like the auction of promises, which raised £2,000 in itself, for which I am very grateful.

'I woud like to thank the Christian Aid Loughborough Committee for all their help. Above all, I would like to thank my wife, Pauline Anderson, for cheering me on during the London Marathon race day and for all her support in the build up to the race.

'If anyone else would like to donate to the cause you can do by visiting my JustGiving page.'
