Sponsored walks in Scotland

Walk with us

Fight poverty step by step by joining a Christian Aid sponsored walk in Scotland. The 2016 dates for our annual walks have now been announced.

Bridge Crossers

Registration for these events is now open.

Forth Bridge Cross

The Forth Bridge Cross is Christian Aid Scotland’s longest established sponsored walk with 2016 being the 44th year. Bringing together hundreds of people from east central Scotland to walk the county’s most iconic bridge, the bridge cross is accessible and fun for all ages.

Date: Saturday 23 April 2016, 2pm – 5pm

Location: Forth Road Bridge, register at either side of the bridge.

Route: Starting at either side of the bridge, walkers will cross the bridge on one side and return on the other.

The distance across is 1.5 miles so you can choose to do three, six or nine miles by doing multiple crossings. We encourage you to get sponsored per crossing if doing numerous.

Tay Bridge Cross

The Tay Bridge Cross returns for a 15th year walking across Europe’s widest river, the River Tay. Join us with your friends and family to raise money in support of Christian Aid.

Date: Saturday 30 April 2016, 11am – 2pm

Location: Newport-on-Tay

Route: Starting at the Newport-on-Tay side of the bridge, walkers will cross the bridge and return. The distance across is 1.5 miles so you can choose to do three, six or nine miles by doing multiple crossings. We encourage you to get sponsored per crossing if doing numerous. Dogs, fancy dress and dogs in fancy dress all welcome.

Erskine Bridge Cross

Join us for another year at the Erskine Bridge Cross, taking on the west of Scotland’s biggest bridge.  Entertainment for all the family will be at the start, next to the Old Kilpatrick Bowling Club.

Date: Saturday 7 May 2016, 2pm – 5pm

Location: Erskine Road Bridge, register at the Old Kilpatrick end of the bridge.

Route: Stripping back to old school this year we will just be crossing the bridge and not including the Boden Boo forestry walk. Please start at the Old Kilpatrick side of the bridge - only refreshments will be available at the south side.

Cumbrae Challenge

Take a trip to Great Cumbrae this summer to enjoy the scenery on the island and some lunch in Millport. Either walk or cycle around the 11 miles around the island

Date: Saturday 11 June 2016, 10am – 4pm

Location: Cumbrae Slip, Great Cumbrae.

Route: Coming off the boat from Largs you will start around the island going north. Arrive at the Fintry Bay café by 11.30am for a quick pit-stop then by lunch time you will reach Millport where a well-earned rest will be waiting. Carrying on around the final stretch of the island will have you back to the boat by 4pm.
