Whether you raise £2, £20 or £200, the money you make from taking the time out to share soup with your friends, family and colleagues will help some of the world’s poorest communities.

Take a look at how your bowl counts for people like Florinda Rodriguez and her daughter Maria, who received support from Christian Aid partner CASM in Guatemala.
‘We used to store our maize in the rafters, and had to keep the fire lit to stop it going damp. It was very smoky and it used a lot of firewood. Mice and bugs used to get to the cobs. But with our new grain store, that doesn’t happen,’ says Florinda.
Disasters can destroy acres of crops, leaving poor farmers with nothing, so when there's a drought or flood, families need to be able to fall back on their reserves.
Our partner CASM provides people with watertight metal granaries, so that they can store their maize cobs, safe from damp, rats and insects, for more than two years.
CASM is also helping villages to set up communal grain stores, so communities can store and buy maize locally. When harvests are good, everyone puts 100lb of maize into the store.
And when maize is scarce or prices rise, local residents can buy from the village store at a reduced price. This means that when there is a drought, flood or rise in food prices, families are better protected.
