Christmas Fun Runs

Thank you!

This December, 100 festive Christian Aid supporters dressed up as Santa to stroll, jog or run in their local Christmas Fun Run. As a group, the festive fundraisers are aiming to raise £11,500 to help Christian Aid sleigh poverty this Christmas.

On Sunday 4 December over 7,000 people, including 50 Christian Aid runners, threw on their red hats and beards and braved the wintry conditions to descend upon Liverpool and take part in the largest Santa Dash in the UK.

The race commenced as Father Christmas himself arrived from Lapland by helicopter, while dancing Christmas trees and snow flurries greeted the runners as they crossed the finishing line.

Meanwhile in Greenwich Park, Christian Aid had 25 Santas running in the London Santa Run. The run was called off due to snow last year, but luckily the snow (and rain!) held off this year and the run went ahead. Christian Aid Santa’s enjoyed a mince pie and glass of juice at the end, and Annika Roberts and Donna Gross, who ran twice round the 5K course, said: 'The promise of mince pies at the end kept us going!'

Our youngest runner, eight-year-old Sally Edser from Croydon, has already raised an amazing £230 – a fantastic effort Sally!

At The Great Loughborough Santa Fun Run, the Christian Aid Santas joined 1,100 others as they set off running in the footsteps of some of Britain’s greatest athletes at Loughborough University running track! As the crowd of runners headed into Loughborough, the sea of red was an incredible sight.

On Sunday 11 December Christian Aid was the official charity partner at the Southampton Santa Dash as hundreds of Santas took over Southampton Common. A lively Zumba session got everyone warmed up on this cold, winter, Sunday morning and the fun continued in the 5km Christmas Fun Run.

Thank you to all Christian Aid’s Santas for braving the cold and helping us to sleigh poverty in the Christmas Fun Runs.
