More than 800 bishops from the worldwide Anglican Communion are gathering in Canterbury for the 2008 Lambeth Conference, and Christian Aid will be there.
The conference takes place every 10 years at the invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury. This year’s event, which runs from 16 July to 3 August, gives bishops across the world the chance to come together for reflection, prayer, discussion and fellowship.
With many Anglican Church partners across the world, many of Christian Aid’s key institutional partners are represented, and the conference presents a unique opportunity to engage with the Anglican leadership.
Our work in focus
Christian Aid is leading sessions on peace and reconciliation in Sudan (the Episcopal Church in Sudan's choir is pictured above), and the role of faith leaders in the fight against HIV. Christian Aid staff are also contributing to a session on climate change.
At our HIV workshop, we will also be presenting our new report, Condemned, isolated and invisible, which examines the stigma, discrimination and prejudice faced by people living with HIV in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.
