June 2011
On 11 March 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck the northeastern coast of Japan. It triggered a massive tsunami that washed away several coastal cities; crippled hundreds of businesses; and killed and wounded tens of thousands of people.
Thanks to your kind donations, Christian Aid was able to respond via its sister agency, Church World Service, which at the time was working with Japanese non-governmental organisations to provide support on the ground.
The video belows shows how they were able to use your money.
You can help us respond whenever disasters happen by donating to our Emergencies fund.
