Ask your MEP to vote for a 30% EU emission-cutting target now

Dear Supporter,

Tomorrow lunchtime MEPs will vote on whether to toughen the EU’s carbon emissions reduction target from 20% by 2020, compared with 1990 levels, to a 30% cut. This is the minimum needed to prevent catastrophic climate change.

But we’re very disappointed to hear that some Conservative MEPs from the UK intend to vote against this vital commitment.

Every vote will count, so it’s really important that all UK MEPs vote in favour of greater action on climate change. Please email your local MEPs now to urge them to vote tomorrow in support of a 30% emissions-cutting target across Europe.

Global cuts in carbon emissions significantly greater than this are absolutely vital if there is to be any possibility of keeping global temperature rise below 2 degrees. Achieving this is critical to the world’s poorest people, who are already suffering first and worst from the effects of climate change.

Thank you.
