The former Labour environment minister has proposed a clause to the Climate Change Bill which would reinstate annual mandatory carbon reporting for UK-listed firms.

The government accepted this measure in the House of Lords after Christian Aid and tens of thousands of you campaigned for it.
But then it backtracked and dropped the amendment in the Commons.
Why is this important?
Britain's share of world carbon emissions officially stands at 2% of the global total. But when the international actvities of UK companies are included, its share rockets to 12-15%.
That's why it's vital our large companies provide an accurate annual carbon audit of all their business activities.
Without it Britain can't start to play its proper part in combating climate change.
