On the weekend of 16-18 October 2009, Christian Aid supporters joined millions of people worldwide who contacted their politicians demanding that they take action on poverty and climate change.
Under the worldwide banner of Stand Up, Take Action, Christian Aid joined up with other development organisations including Oxfam, Cafod and Tearfund to take part in the Great Persuasion to lobby MPs and prospective parliamentary candidates (PPCs) across the country.
This year, more than 173 million people took part around the world, making it the largest recorded mobilisation in history.
Thanks to everyone who took part!
Lobbies also took place in constituencies across the country including Edinburgh North and Leith, Stormont in Northern Ireland, Tynemouth East, Stroud and Eastleigh. In Oxford, Andrew Smith MP was serenaded by a climate justice choir.

In Gloucester, meanwhile, campaigners formed a human clock face showing time running out for action and met Gloucester MP Parmjit Dhanda and MEP Julie Girling.
