FTSE Four top the bill at Greenbelt

By Alasdair Roxburgh | 6 September 2010

As one of Greenbelt festival's main partners, Christian Aid had a pretty big presence at Cheltenham racecourse over the bank holiday weekend.

We took the opportunity to officially launch the latest stage of our Trace the Tax campaign.

After the success of our FTSE 100 survey, we are now turning to our FTSE Four - Vodafone, Unilever, TUI Travel (they own Thomson and First Choice holidays) and Intercontinental Hotels Group (Holiday Inn among others) - to support our call for greater financial transparency.

To help people get their heads around our campaign, we built a tax maze to symbolise the task in hand (tracing the tax - get it?).

And Greenbelt's response was awesome!

Over the four days we distributed more than 3,300 campaign postcard sets (you can do the equivalent online version here) many of which were completed on site.

In addition we also gave out more than 600 campaign action packs, as well as recording more than 600 personal messages to the companies from festival goers.

Excitingly, we were approached by several individuals over the weekend who work for different FTSE 100 companies who were keen to chat with us further about the campaign.

It was an exhausting but massively successful start to the campaign!

Thanks, Greenbelt!
