Introducing Clare Groves

By Clare Groves | 29 October 2010

Hello, I’m Clare. I joined the Christian Aid campaigns team about a month ago – and what an amazing month it’s been!

I will be concentrating on our climate change campaign – we're putting the final touches to our next action right now, so watch this space!

But all of my time so far has been spent preparing for and working on the 20 October Supporter Day and lobby, so it’s been a fast and furious introduction to Christian Aid!

20 October Supporter DayIt was fantastic to meet so many committed and passionate supporters in London last Wednesday, and I am looking forward to working with many more of you.

We're already getting great feedback from attendees, and we're delighted that everyone seemed to have as good a time as we did.

Feedback from our Supporter Day

The Rev Helen Hayes from the east Midlands wrote, 'Had an amazing day on Wednesday!

'It was my first Christian Aid action I have been involved with and it was totally inspiring, especially seeing school children there. Teaching young people that they do have a voice is so important.'

'It was good to feel part of God's bigger church,' said Reverend Mark Evans from Kent, 'hearing inspiring speeches and worship, then putting our faith into action.'

Amanda McFarlane-Norrington and her son Alexander Norrington sent us a 'big "thank you"... for giving us the chance to put our Christian and democratic values into action.'

And there are plenty of brownie points for MPs in our inbox - take a bow, Jeremy HuntTeresa Pearce, Henry Smith, David Tredinnick and Andrea Leadsom.

We should also thank Durham MP, Roberta Blackman-Woods, who told her constituent Elizabeth James that she 'thought that the CA event was very well-organised, well-attended and effective.'

I think Felicity Redmond-Lyon best sums up the general feeling with her list of highlights:

'Two thousand CA supporters singing “How great Thou art”. First-hand reports from Bolivia, India and Zambia on effects of global warming, etc. Meeting other CA supporters and enjoying their enthusiasm. Meeting our MP and finding she is just as keen on doing something about third world issues as we are. Being there with Jesse Jackson.'

What did you think of the Supporter Day?

Thanks to everyone for your feedback - and if you haven't yet, please do send in more impressions of the day. Good or bad, it’s all helpful. Just email them to us at campaigns@christian-aid.org.

Thank you also for your constructive criticism of the day, such as telling us that we could have communicated with you better on the day and improved our coordination of transport to and from the event. It is very useful to receive these thoughts, so that we can try to improve things next time.

Enjoy the day again with our video, photos and audio downloads.
