Join the Big Climate Connection

By Clare Groves | 3 November 2010

SCC CoalitionIf you didn’t manage to lobby your MP at Christian Aid’s Supporter Day, here’s another great opportunity to speak to your MP about crucial climate change issues in your constituency.

Friday 5 - Saturday 6 November will see thousands of campaigners gathering to lobby their MPs on climate issues as part of the Big Climate Connection, organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition (which Christian Aid is an active member of).

Three demands...

  • The international ask is to push for progress on international climate finance to help developing countries adapt to climate change and develop low carbon technologies.

  • The national ask is to include in the upcoming UK Energy Bill measures for energy efficiency in people’s homes, and a strong emissions performance standard to set a limit on the amount of CO2 a power station can emit.

  • At a local level lobbyists are linking the climate asks in with local issues, to show our MPs that climate change really is relevant to them.

How to get involved

It’s not too late to sign up!

There may well be someone organising a meeting with your MP, that you can join. You can check out the interactive lobby map to find out who to contact.

If there’s no one organising a lobby in your constituency, you can sign up to organise one!

If you can’t go to the lobby in person, you can still support the Big Climate Connection by sending a letter to your MP to ask them to support a strong energy bill and concrete actions to enable progress in Cancun.
