The Big Climate Reconnection

By Clare Groves | 31 March 2011

Last year we and our friends in the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition staged a mass lobby of Parliament to push climate change up the political agenda.

SCC CoalitionAnd it was such a success that we're doing it all again this year. Ladies and gents, we give you: the Big Climate Reconnection!

From now until the end of May, climate change lobbying events are taking place across the country.

Now is a key time for us to talk to our MPs about taking firm action on climate change, as the government decides its next steps after the UN climate talks in Cancun last December.

Plus, the focus of our latest climate justice campaign - World Bank fossil fuel projects - is one of the key issues being discussed at these lobby events.

Get involved!

To find out when and where your local meetings are happening, take a look at the lobby map. And the Big Climate Reconnection website has more information on the issues.

Once you’re signed up to attend a meeting, why not tweet about it? Let us know that you’re going – and follow other people’s lobbies – by using the #bigconnect hashtag. There's going to be a Twitter storm on this hashtag over the next couple of days, in fact.

And if – like me – you’re not au fait with the likes of Twitter, you can always find out more about the lobbies and share progress on the Big Climate Reconnection Facebook page.

Take action!

Act now! Email Andrew Mitchell, the development secretary, and urge him to help get the World Bank out of fossil fuels.
